6 Ways to Bank From Home

As we are all well aware, staying home is the new norm – at least short-term. While banking is certainly an essential service, at gfcu, we’ve taken a number of steps to ensure our members can do almost all of their banking from the comfort of their own home.

1. Deposit Cheques

Have a cheque that you need to deposit? Well good news! You can do this right from home. The gfcu mobile app, available on any smartphone or tablet, allows you to deposit that cheque with a few taps of the finger. A popular, and currently quite relevant feature, “Deposit Anywhere” allows you to snap a photo of the cheque and deposit it right from the app. Just one feature of many included with the gfcu mobile banking app.

2. Send & Receive Money

From your phone, tablet, or computer, you can send money virtually anywhere in the world. Domestically you can send and request funds by email or text with Interac eTransfer – a free service for gfcu members. Our new online International Transfers service lets you send money internationally right from online banking.

3. Pay Bills

Our online banking platform, online banking app, and telephone banking service all allow you to pay bills right from home. No line ups, no late payments – and you can even setup recurring & automated bill payments to ensure you never miss a bill. As long as you have a copy of your bill, and can find the account number associated with that bill, you will be able to take care of payments right from home.

4. Track Your Accounts

The security feature, known as “MemberDirect Alerts”, means that utilizing online banking is one of the most proactive steps a member can take around safe banking – not just online, but in general. These alerts will email or text message you anytime certain transactions occur in your account. Members can customize these to be notified of what they deem important, and in doing so, be immediately informed of these actions happening in their account.

5. Access Statements

Our online banking function automatically stores and organizes your statements from the past seven years. Thanks to this function, you will never struggle to find your banking records again. You can also eliminate the paper statements and associated fees by taking advantage of this convenient digital system. Seven years worth of banking history is only a few clicks away – 24/7.

6.Contact Us!

While we have reduced our branch hours, and are recommending members only come in for transactions that require in-person service – our staff are still here to work with members by phone and email. During our adapted business hours, you can speak directly with gfcu staff by phone regarding any banking matter. Account balances to mortgages – whatever you need, you can contact us for personal service.
